LabSolue presents its olfactory celebration of Violet.

When spring has sprung, this small Flower gracefully announces it by blooming with a joyful and soft scent throughout Italy. Symbol of modesty and grace, as the shy blue-violet blossoms hide among the dark heart-shaped Leaves. What a surprise! What a delight! Discovering a bunch in the grass makes us believe to breathe in all the scents of spring in one. Sweet rhapsody of smell that penetrates all the senses.

An Essence made of Violet Flowers and Leaves, enhanced by fruity notes of Raspberry and musky nuances of Patchouli.

Curiosity: Violet has been a central note in Perfumery since the 19th century: favored by Napoleon Bonaparte to the point to be referred as “Caporal la Violette” and by his second wife Duchess Maria Luigia who started the successful violets cultivation and processing in Parma. The image of the Violet is inseparably connected with the name of Maria Luigia. Her love for this graceful flower was deep: she also used it, and in particular its colour, as a personal mark. It was she who encoraged research by the monks at the Monastery of the Annunciata who, after long and patient work, succeeded in obtaining an essence from the flower and its leaves which was identical to that of the Violet.

The Perfumer

Catherine Selig

From an early age, Catherine Selig knew she was going to become a perfumer. She draws her inspiration from her great-grandfather, the Maitre Gantier Parfumeur Meinrad Hilfiger, who headed his perfume house in Switzerland, creating distinctive, high-quality fragrances in the 19th century for royal families and influential elites. After discovering and studying her great-grandfather’s formulas book and distillation cabinet, Catherine perfected her own unique art of perfumery through intensive education at France’s best perfumery schools (ISIPCA in Versailles with an internship in Grasse) and subsequent training on the job in important international fragrance houses. Catherine focuses on creating unique fine fragrances that blend individual tastes with her own creativity, producing one-of-a-kind, luminous scents that inspire the senses and the imaginations of those who wear them.

“You are here only for a brief visit. Don’t hurry, don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way”. Walter Hagen
