Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the LabSolue and Aqua Adornationis collections?
LabSolue is inspired by and pays tribute to Italy and its scents, to the beauty and versatility of the vegetation that grows in the Mediterranean. Fruits, Aromatics, Flowers, Woods and Resins: the tree in its entirety is the basis of LabSolue's philosophy and creative work. Roots, trunk, resins, branches, leaves, flowers, fruits: the plant is considered and celebrated in its totality and
complexity during the creation of a perfume. It is a process of glorification of its essence. Nature, knowledge, craftsmanship and passion are elements enclosed in every creation. LabSolue Essences are naturally free from gender distinctions, free from rules, constraints or judgments. Created to be freely appreciated in their various forms: as a Perfume, as a Scented Candle and as an Home Perfume. They can accompany us during our travels, day and night; or welcome us when we enter any place we call home.
Aqua Adornationis was born from the design and old formulations of the Marvin pharmacy and perfumery and perpetuates the passion of the Martone family for the art of perfumery, research, experimentation. The discovery of an old legal label UTIF - Uffici Tecnici Imposte di Fabbricazione, Technical Offices Manufacturing Taxes - hidden at the bottom of an original Marvin bottle, gave the collection its name. The literal translation is already poetry, water to adorn, an explanation of the daily use of perfume, but also a declaration of its essential beauty. Associated with the name is an important and mysterious date concerning a member or friend of the family and refers to an event. Each fragrance wants to crystallize that moment, and propose an olfactory portrait of the person to whom it refers. Aqua Adornationis is a collection of Perfumes for Persons to adorn the spirit of new olfactory
emotions, transports the senses to olfactory roots near and far, to the past and present.
Aqua Adornation is also presents a collection for the Bath and the Body: rooted in the origins of the family tree, the fragrance Aqua Adornationis 1947 gives life to the iconic Amenities, created for Magna Pars, the Hotel à Parfum, former perfume factory
of the Martone family. Both the LabSolue and Aqua Adornationis collections are created in collaboration and friendship
between sisters Giorgia and Ambra Martone with the most talented international Master Perfumers. Some of these "Noses" have been friends of the Martone family for two or three generations.
Why does Perfume contain Alcohol?
Alcohol is the best vehicle to allow the diffusion and therefore the perception of perfume and its olfactory development in the top and heart notes. It also has a solvent action, in fact it allows an optimal solubility of the essence, and a preservative one, the alcoholic perfume has no expiration date, once opened the perfume lasts up to 36 months.
Why after a while I can no longer feel my perfume as before?
Perfume lasts longer than our nose can perceive. It is mainly a matter of habit: if we solicit the sense of smell always with the same notes, it will tend not to hear them anymore. It is therefore an innate sensory mechanism, our nose has simply become accustomed, and the brain pays more attention to new smells and fragrances. An excellent opportunity to discover and try new LabSolue and Aqua Adornationis fragrances.
Where do LabSolue ingredients come from?
All the alcohol we select and use for our essences is produced from wheat coming exclusively from European sources, and this applies to both personal and ambient formulations.
We use precious natural ingredients from different parts of the world and precious synthetic molecules recreated in the laboratory through the most advanced technologies.
For each Essence we always declare the natural ingredients present and if specific, also their origin, you can find them online in the OLFACTORY FAMILY AND NOTES section.
We do not use artificial colors, the color of the jus of all our Perfumes for Person and Home Perfumes and the wax of the Handmade Candles is due solely to the natural ingredients of the Essence.
Are they fragrances for women or men?
Our fragrances are all gender free, naturally free from gender distinctions, free from rules, constraints or judgments. There are no limits in LabSolue's vision. What matters is the emotion, the feeling of each one.
Are LabSolue fragrances made by a single olfactive ingredient?
No. These are not soliflore, i.e. fragrances that intend to recreate the smell of the single raw material in an aseptic environment, but compositions that arise from the plant and the territory from which it comes. The prevailing raw material, which gives its name to every LabSolue Essence, is recognizable, but there are other ingredients that perfect it. The tree in its entirety is the basis of
LabSolue's philosophy and creative work. Roots, trunk, resins, branches, leaves, flowers, fruits: the plant is considered and celebrated in its totality and complexity during the creation of a perfume. It is a process of glorification of its essence.
How is the product packaged?
The gift box is always offered: each Perfume, Home Perfume and Scented Candle LabSolue is presented in an elegant ivory white box, wrapped in a textured paper sleeve embellished with hot embossed decorations. The box is tied with a colored shiny satin ribbon and finished with the iconic LabSolue tag, customizable with a handwritten message to complete the gift. The packaging,
including the external and internal parts, is made entirely of paper, to ensure simple and correct recycling. For the same reason, we chose not to protect it with cellophane. The paper we use is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, to ensure it comes from responsibly managed forests, and is recyclable.
Do you offer gift with purchase?
For every Perfume or Home Perfume purchased, we offer a sample of a surprise LabSolue perfume. A small gift for lovers of perfumes with a curious nose.
Each Scented Candle is accompanied by a box of LabSolue matches. A little thought to delight lovers of candlelit perfumes.
Is it possible to customize a LabSolue product?
Each package is finished with the iconic LabSolue FROM/TO Tag, customizable with a handwritten message to complete the gift.
Thanks to the exclusive Discovery Kit you can choose four of the sixty-eight LabSolue Essences with which to compose an elegant box of Eaux de Parfum 15 ml droppers of your choice.
Do you make custom-made perfumes?
We do not make custom-made perfumes. The creation of each LabSolue perfume requires great resources in terms of time, people, testing, research and development and it would not be possible to carry out the same quality process in a few months and
at an affordable price.
Can I mix your perfumes?
We suggest not to mix our perfumes. Our Essences are the precious fruit of inspiration, creativity, knowledge, study and meticulous work of years of internationally renowned Master Perfumers, the artists of perfumery, in collaboration with Giorgia and
Ambra Martone. Like any work of art, they are to be appreciated in their originality and balance, it would be a shame to contaminate them by mixing them.
Do you ship abroad?
We currently ship to Italy and Europe.
Do you offer a Tax Free service?
Yes, we are happy to offer the Tax Free service in our own stores, the LabSolue Perfume Laboratory in Milan and in Rome.

What are your sustainability commitments?
Together with the values of high quality and craftsmanship, the Martone family has always been committed to affirming an authentic, honest and responsible lifestyle. The creations of the LabSolue Perfume Laboratory are the synthesis of Italian
craftsmanship and essential beauty, expression of sustainable elegance.
Made in Italy
is not only a choice of excellence, but also a commitment to the local community.
LabSolue is committed to promoting social and environmental principles, with the aim of promoting well-being, avoiding waste, and carefully managing resources. All LabSolue products are handcrafted in Italy, composed of materials of responsible origin, recycled and / or recyclable, and designed to be rechargeable and reusable over time.
LabSolue fragrance lovers can purchase a refill of their favorite essence to charge their home diffusers infinitely. All diffuser bottles and candle jars are designed to be reused in an original way as flower pots or containers of other objects, even after the perfume has run out. All bottles have been developed with a screw neck, to facilitate both refilling, reuse, and recycling.
LabSolue promotes the use of natural ingredients, enhances their richness and genuine qualities. The tree in its entirety, from the roots to the leaves, is the basis of the philosophy and creative work of the Master Perfumers for LabSolue. These are not soliflore - that is, fragrances that intend to recreate the smell of the single raw material in an aseptic environment, but compositions that arise
from the plant and the territory from which it comes. The prevailing raw material – which gives its name to every LabSolue essence – is recognizable, but there are other elements that perfect it.
We do not use artificial colors, the color of the jus of all our Perfumes for Person and Home Perfumes is due solely to the natural ingredients of the Essence.
LabSolue trusts and follows European legislation, one of the strictest in the world, which requires rigorous controls and testing of every cosmetic product before authorizing its sale. However, true to the commitment that has distinguished it since its inception, the brand has its own formulation charter that also excludes certain ingredients that are legally authorized, but that raise concerns – in particular parabens, TEA/DEA, silicones, aluminum, mineral oils, synthetic dyes and sulfates – and continuously evolves its formulas to replace controversial ingredients.
The alcohol we select and use for our essences is produced from wheat coming exclusively from European sources, and this applies to both personal and home formulations.
The reeds to diffuse the essences of the environment are made of natural untreated rattan. The wax of the candles is poured by hand in Italy and does not contain artificial colors, the color is due exclusively to the natural ingredients that compose
them. The wick consists of braids of pure untreated cotton, without a metal core.
Each package, including the external and internal parts, is made entirely of paper, to ensure simple and correct recycling. For the same reason, we chose not to protect it with cellophane. The paper we use is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, to ensure it comes from responsibly managed forests, and is recyclable.
All this to respect and promote the social and ecological needs of present and future generations.
How does Refill work?
Every LabSolue perfume
is designed to last, infinitely rechargeable, reusable and recyclable.
To more effectively
promote our commitment to refill and reuse, the brand's Re-fill
and Re-Use mantra, each LabSolue Home Perfume comes at the first
purchase as a kit, consisting of an empty glass diffuser with a cap along with
a glass refill filled with Essence and a set of untreated natural rattan reeds.
So as to start immediately with the right gestures.
Then, perfume lovers
can buy Refills of each of the sixty-eight LabSolue Essences to
refill the precious amber glass home diffusers. Please note that the set of reeds
is not included in the Refill, but only in the original Home Perfume.
Instructions for use
of the Refill: Remove the reeds from your diffuser. Open the refill and pour
all the perfume from the refill into the diffuser. Reinsert all reeds into the
diffuser. Flip them every day or whenever you want to increase the intensity of
the diffusion. Each Refill
is intended to be used exclusively for the diffuser of the same Essence, to
avoid contamination that could ruin the olfactory performance. We suggest never
to use water to rinse the diffuser before refilling, otherwise the content could
become opaque. If you intend to wash the diffuser anyway, make sure it is
perfectly dry before refilling again.
Furthermore, at the
LabSolue Perfume Laboratories in Milan and Rome, the exclusive in-store
refill service is offered by one of our Lab Tender for any LabSolue Perfume
and Home Perfume.
How does Reuse work?
Beyond charging: Re-Use. Even after the essence is exhausted, all LabSolue home diffusers, perfume bottles and candle jars are designed to be reused in an original way as flowerpots or containers of pens, brushes and other objects. Therefore, don't throw
them away, but use your imagination and creativity to reuse them in the best possible way.
How and where should I apply my perfume?
Before use, we suggest shaking the chosen LabSolue Personal Perfume because it contains many natural ingredients that might otherwise remain sedimented at the bottom of the bottle.
We recommend vaporizing it "where you feel the pulsations of the heart", so in the pulsating and warmer areas of the body, where the blood pressure is stronger, because together with the heat emanated, the aroma spreads.
Yes to wrists, neck, behind the ears, but also to elbows and décolleté. Do not rub your wrists, it is a bad habit that breaks down the molecules of the perfume, preventing it from acting properly and canceling its balance. You can also in addition or
alternative, spray the fragrance upwards, then enter the cloud to be gently wrapped in scent.
Can I spray perfume on clothes?
Our Personal Perfumes are born to be applied to the skin, they are alcohol-based and contain a high concentration of natural raw materials. We therefore do not recommend direct vaporization on precious or delicate fabrics, because they could stain.
How long does a LabSolue perfume last on the skin?
All our Personal Perfumes, faithfully made in Italy, are Eau de Parfum and have an indicative persistence up to 6-8 hours. In addition to the ingredients that constitute the fragrance, it is important to keep in mind that various external factors can also affect the persistence of a perfume, such as skin type, climate, humidity. If you love very persistent perfumes, we recommend orienting yourself on the LabSolue olfactory family of Woods and Resins, but also on all compositions with Vanilla, Amber and Musk.
How can I increase its persistence on my skin?
We suggest both vaporizing generously the perfume directly on the pulsating and warmer areas of the body, like wrists, neck, behind the ears, elbows and décolleté, both spraying it upwards then entering the cloud to be wrapped in scent. You can also repeat these operations several times during the day, keeping a comfortable travel size like LabSolue Eau de Parfum Spray 20 ml or Dropper 15 ml at hand.
How to store my perfume?
The best choice is a cool and dark place, not directly exposed to natural and / or artificial lights and heat sources. Although it may seem strange, the refrigerator would be a very suitable place, while the bathroom is not while the bathroom is not due to the heat and humidity usually generated by the shower.
Why do perfumes smell differently on different people?
Each skin reacts to a fragrance differently, because each skin has its own natural smell, mainly determined by PH, i.e. skin acidity. Another factor that changes the perception of a perfume is perspiration, in fact sweat is made of water and other substances, such as sodium, chlorine, potassium, lactic acid, which mix with essences. Other reasons are the lipid rate of the skin and the hormonal
component. At the time of a new purchase: vaporize the chosen perfume on your skin and allow it to evolve, to understand if it satisfies and represents you.
How to choose a new perfume?
Just like all intimate and personal experiences, the magic of perfume is that there is no right or wrong, good or bad. It must simply be suitable for the wearer, represent him in a unique and special way, make him feel good and comfortable with himself and
with others. It is therefore good to select carefully. You can come and visit in person our own Perfume Laboratories in Milan or Rome and be assisted by one of our expert Lab Tender in the olfactory exploration of all our Essences.
Or thanks to the exclusive Discovery Kit you can also choose online four of the sixty-eight LabSolue Essences with which to compose an elegant box of Eaux de Parfum 15ml droppers of your choice to try on your skin calmly at home.
How long do the LabSolue Home Perfumes last?
The duration of LabSolue Home Perfume is indicative and may vary depending on the mode and conditions in which they are used. Following our advice it is possible to obtain the maximum out of them.
- The indicative duration of the diffusers is proportional to the size:
- 100 ml: up to 3 weeks
- 250 ml: up to 6 weeks
- 500 ml: up to 10 weeks
- 1 Lt: up to 16 weeks
- In addition to the ingredients that constitute the fragrance, several external variables influence their diffusion and duration, including:
- Presence of heat sources, such as radiators, fireplaces or sun exposed windows. It is better to avoid surfaces close to heat sources, which contribute to consuming the essence more quickly and also potentially deteriorate it.
- Presence of drafts, caused for example by air conditioning, or opening and closing doors and windows. It is better to avoid surfaces exposed to drafts, or the fragrance will run out faster than expected.
- Climate, temperature and humidity of the room: the hotter and more humid it is, the more the fragrance will tend to evaporate quickly and to be smelled less.
I opened the diffuser a couple of weeks ago: why did the fragrance seem to have evaporated so quickly?
LabSolue Home Perfumes have a high concentration of natural essential oils. To preserve their quality we do not use chemical solvents, but only denatured alcohol: for this reason evaporation is faster in the initial phase, and then slows down when the amount of ethanol decreases. So, you don't have to worry about it because it's physiological. Our compositions have been formulated and balanced to maintain their olfactory quality over time.
How to choose the size of the room diffuser?
We recommend choosing the size of the diffuser according to the surface of the room to be perfumed:
- 100 ml: up to 10 m²
- 250 ml: from 10 to 20 m²
- 500 ml: from 20 to 30 m²
- 1 Lt: from 30 to 50 m²
In the case of large spaces or high ceilings it is preferable to have at least two or more diffusers of at
least 500 ml or 1 Lt positioned on opposite sides of the room.
If I remove a few reeds, will the fragrance last longer?
No, quite the opposite. The number of reeds supplied, made entirely of natural rattan, has been studied and optimized in proportion to the dimension of each diffuser. By removing a few reeds, not only will you have a faster consumption of perfume, but you will also limit the diffusion of the fragrance and therefore its olfactory perception.
How many times a week is it necessary to flip the reeds inside the fragrance?
In order to have an optimal diffusion, we recommend turning the reeds once a day or whenever you want to increase the olfactory perception of the fragrance, for example before receiving guests. The more frequently the reeds are turned, the more fragrant
the environment will be.
How do I recharge my Home Perfume diffuser?
Simply buy the Refill of the same Essence of the original Home Perfume, to recharge the diffuser again and again. LabSolue Home Perfumes are infinitely rechargeable. Instructions for use of the Refill: Remove the reeds from your diffuser. Open the refill and pour all the perfume from the refill into the diffuser. Reinsert all reeds into the diffuser. Flip them every day or whenever you want to increase the intensity of the diffusion.
Please note that the set of reeds is not included in the Refill, but only in the original Home Perfume. Each Refill is intended to be used exclusively for the diffuser of the same Essence, to avoid contamination that could ruin the olfactory performance. We suggest never to use water to rinse the diffuser before refilling, otherwise the content could become opaque. If you intend to
wash the diffuser anyway, make sure it is perfectly dry before refilling again.
How does Refill work? How does Reuse work?
Every LabSolue perfume is designed to last, infinitely rechargeable, reusable and recyclable.
To more effectively promote our commitment to Re-fill and Re-Use, LabSolue mantra, each Home Perfume comes at the first purchase as a kit, consisting of an empty glass diffuser with a cap along with a glass refill filled with Essence and a set of
untreated natural rattan reeds. So to start immediately with the right gestures.
Then, perfume lovers can buy Refills of each of the sixty-eight LabSolue Essences to refill the precious amber glass home diffusers.
Furthermore, at the LabSolue Perfume Laboratories in Milan and Rome, the exclusive in-store refill service is offered by one of our expert Lab Tender for any LabSolue Home Perfume and also Personal Perfume.
Beyond Re-fill: Re-Use. Even after the essence is exhausted, all LabSolue home diffusers, perfume bottles and candle jars are designed to be reused in an original way as flowerpots or containers of pens, brushes and other objects. Therefore, don't
throw them away, but use your imagination and creativity to reuse them in the best possible way.
Do you have any tips for the optimal use (and reuse) of the candle?
Use the candle: To get the most out of your candle, lay it on a flat, heat-resistant surface and let it burn for 2 to 3 hours at a time, until the entire surface melts. This will prevent the wax from becoming hollow later on. Never leave the candle burning unattended and never let it burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Do not move the candle when lit or when the wax is still liquid. Never place a lit candle in a draught, nor in direct contact with a precious surface. Keep the candle out of reach of children and pets and away from curtains or other objects.
Take care of the wick: Regularly trim the wick at ideal length of 5 mm, to avoid the emission of smoke and the wick falling into the wax. After use when the wax is still molten, if needed gently recenter the wick to ensure uniform consumption of the wax and that glass does not overheat. Wick and flame should not touch the container.
Re-use: Do not burn the candle all the way down: a candle is finished and should not be relit when at least 5 mm of non-molten wax remain at the bottom. This is when its second life begins: the glass container can be cleaned and re-used as glass for water, bud vase, brush or pencil pot, smaller candle holder…
What is the duration of LabSolue Candles?
The duration of our candles is indicative and may vary depending on the mode and conditions in which they are used. The LabSolue Scented Candle 200 gr has a burning time of about 60 hours, the LabSolue Scented Candle 85 gr of about 20 hours. Following our advice it is possible to obtain the maximum out of your candle.
How and what are LabSolue Candles made of?
Produced entirely by hand in Italy, they are the result of meticulous work that guarantees the highest olfactory quality together with optimal combustion. The container jar is made of glass in Italy, designed to last over time, reusable and recyclable. The wax is produced and pour by hand in Italy and does not contain artificial colors, its color derives exclusively from the natural ingredients of the essence. We use a mix of vegetable and mineral wax.
The wick consists of braids of pure untreated cotton, without a metal core. The packaging, including the external and internal parts, is made entirely of paper, to ensure simple and correct recycling. For the same reason, we chose not to protect it with cellophane. The paper we use is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, to ensure it comes from responsibly managed
forests, and is recyclable. LabSolue Scented Candles are the work of Italian craftsmanship.
How long should the candle remain lit?
We recommend leaving the candle lit for at least 2 or 3 hours at each use, so that all the wax on the surface becomes liquid. In addition, to avoid excess smoke, before each ignition it is good to make sure that the wick is clean, centered and adjusted
to a length of about 5 mm.
Why do some candles have inhomogeneities in color and texture?
Our candles are entirely handmade in Italy. Our wax contains high amounts of essential oils. Small imperfections, such as possible irregularities of the surface or of the contact parts between wax and container, differences or alterations of color and dots, are not to be attributed to a manufacturing defect but to the high concentration of natural essences and to the particularity of the materials and entirely manual processing. They constitute a specific intrinsic characteristic of our product and testify to its special craftsmanship.
